Cops issue phone warrant in Baldwin shooting investigation

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – Alec Baldwin’s phone has been issued a search warrant in connection with an investigation into the shooting of a motorcyclist by a silver sedan in Manhattan on Thursday.

The NYPD tweeted a photo of the warrant served to Baldwin’s residence on Friday.

A person familiar with the matter said the warrant is for Baldwin’s phone, though no additional details were immediately available.

Several news outlets had reported that Baldwin was questioned by police on Thursday, but the actor’s representative did not confirm or deny his identity.

The suspect, identified by police as Olga Korbut, was taken into custody and released without charges.

New York City police officers responded to a 911 call at around 2:45 p.m. local time Thursday for a motorcyclist who was shot in the head and back.

Officers found a 34-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to the head and back on the side of a road at West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, officials said.

Korbut was treated at Harlem Hospital for her injuries, police said.

A spokesman for the hospital confirmed she is still being treated.

Korbut has denied being the person in the motorcyclist’s helmet-cam video captured the shooting.

She told The Associated Press on Thursday that her phone was in her bag at the time.

A GoFundMe page seeking to raise money for the care of Korbut’s 7-year-old daughter was taken down on Friday.

The page had attracted almost $40,000 in contributions but was taken down shortly after CNN contacted the fundraiser.

The page’s creator wrote, “We have to go, unfortunately, as of today. (You can still donate through their website.)

“Unfortunately we can no longer accept donations. We are extremely thankful to our donors, and we appreciate all their well wishes, including our receipt of numerous FedEx and UPS packages. You have helped raise over $38,000 for Olga, you are very special people, very special to all of us.”
